Program Vision:

PS 19 EVCS Chess Club & Team program will be led by National Chess Master Shawn Martinez & Pushing Pawns coaches. Whether your child is a complete beginner or an advancing tournament player, our goal is for all PS 19 EVCS students to experience the joy and educational benefits of learning and playing chess. Our PS 19 EVCS Team will prepare for Local, City, State, and National Competitions.

Time: 2:40 pm Arrival - 4:30 pm Dismissal

 

During regular school dismissal, all students will meet directly in the dedicated room for the chess club. Students should pack a light snack/beverage, time will be provided for students before the chess games begins.

Class Grouping Options: 

​

  • Kings & Queens Group: Intermediate & advanced coaching with a focus on developing players for chess team competitions. Great for intermediate & advanced students in grades K-5.

  • Rooks Group:  Introductory coaching & social play with a focus on competition. Great for beginner & novice level students in grades 3-5. 

  • Passed Pawns:  Introductory coaching & social play with a focus on competition. Great for beginner & novice level students in grades K-2. 

 

 

Our program emphasizes participation, engagement, and self-study. These groups will meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, and  Wednesdays. It will help us place students in the best learning and playing environment. Players will be promoted throughout the season based on progress, as determined by our coaches.

Program Rates:

  • Monday Winter Trimester   $420      (January 5 -March 23 )​

  • Tuesday Winter Trimester  $420                (January 6 - March 24)​

  • Two Days Winter Trimester $760                     (January 5 - March 24)​

  • Wednesday Winter Trimester  $420                (January 7- March 25)​

  • Three Days Winter Trimester $1100                     (January 5 - March 25)​

  • Early Bird Price  Available until      December 31. Price is $360 for Mondays or Tuesdays.

  • Early Bird Price For Both days $700 & for Three days $1050. 

  • Spring Trimester begins (April 5 - June 16

  • 10% sibling discount
